Privacy Policy

This policy explains how the Teams Chat Backup Chrome extension (“the extension”) and this website handle information. Teams Chat Backup is made by Bullfighter Studio. The extension does not require a separate sign-in account.

Chat data and local storage

  • Teams access: When you click the extension on a Teams tab, Chrome grants temporary access to that tab through activeTab. The extension uses your existing Microsoft Teams browser session to discover chats and channels and read the conversations you choose to back up.
  • Saved backups: Messages, chat names, and captured images or downloaded attachments are processed in your browser and stored in the extension’s IndexedDB database. Exported files are saved through your browser to your device.
  • Media requests: Creating a backup can request images and files from their original sources, including Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and media providers used in the conversation. Attachment downloads can use your existing browser authentication for those sources.
  • No backup upload service: The extension does not upload your chat content or backup files to Bullfighter Studio or its payment services.
  • Settings and sync: Settings and backup progress are stored locally. Your License ID and selected preferences may also use Chrome sync when available. Chat backups, chat names, team names and the Free-plan allowance are not stored in Chrome sync.

License verification and payments

  • License ID: The extension generates a random License ID and stores it locally. It can use Chrome sync to help restore that ID across your Chrome profiles using the same sync account, or you can restore with your original License ID.
  • Lifetime Pro: RevenueCat receives the License ID to verify your lifetime Pro entitlement after you open checkout or choose Restore Purchase. Verification requests never include Teams messages or backup files. After a successful verification, Pro stays unlocked offline on that browser profile with no recurring license checks.
  • Hosted checkout: The checkout link includes your License ID so a purchase can be associated with your extension license. The hosted payment provider handles the billing and payment information you supply during checkout.
  • Account separation: The extension does not use Google OAuth or ask you to sign in with Google, and your Teams session remains separate from your extension license.

Permissions

  • activeTab provides temporary access after you invoke the extension; scripting runs the backup code in that tab; storage saves settings, license state and progress.
  • alarms confirms a pending checkout for up to 30 minutes and stops after confirmation or expiry. It does not trigger Teams backups.
  • downloads is optional and requested only when a download action needs Chrome’s downloads API.

Chrome’s extension settings show the permissions granted to the extension and controls for site access.

Third-party services

RevenueCat and the hosted payment provider process license and payment information for Pro purchases. Chrome handles optional sync, and original content providers receive requests for their images or files. The extension does not integrate with analytics services or advertising networks.

Choosing to report a backup failure opens a support email draft with limited troubleshooting information, such as extension version, a recognized Teams hostname, status flags and error counts. Support reports are never sent automatically; you choose whether to send the email.

This website

teamschatbackup.com is a static website. It does not use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes standard request data (such as IP address and user agent) to deliver and protect the site.

Your rights and control

  • You can export your data at any time to files on your device.
  • You can delete saved chats or uninstall the extension to remove its local backup database. Previously exported files remain on your device until you delete them.
  • You can request deletion of your license information by contacting us at support@teamschatbackup.com.
  • You keep complete ownership of all backup files created by the extension.
